  • 106 grams light brown sugar
  • 113 ml buttermilk (room temperature)
  • 1 egg (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 125 grams confectioners' sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)
  • pinch salt (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and lightly grease your doughnut pan.
  2. In one bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar until smooth. Stir in buttermilk, egg, vanilla extract, and nutmeg.
  4. Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture until just blended.
  5. Fill the doughnut pan two-thirds full with batter and bake for about 11 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before glazing with a mixture of confectioners' sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and salt.
