  • 2 eggs, whisked
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (112 g) unsalted butter, very softened
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) heavy cream
  • 2 chai tea bags
  • 1/2 cup (112 g) unsalted butter, very softened
  • 1 cup (220 g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 3/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/3 cup (116 g) honey
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp (84 g) unsalted butter, very softened
  • 6 oz (170 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup (97 g) powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/8 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • pinch of cloves

Instructions

  1. Warm 1 1/4 cups whole milk to 110°F and mix with 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast and 1 tsp sugar; let it sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine 4 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, salt, and spices. Add the yeast mixture along with whisked eggs and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
  3. Gradually incorporate softened butter and knead on medium speed for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for one hour or until doubled in size.
  5. While the dough rises, prepare the filling by mixing together softened butter, brown sugar, spices, honey, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 16×24 inches. Spread the filling evenly over it.
  7. Roll up tightly from one edge and cut into equal pieces about two inches thick.
  8. Arrange in a greased baking dish; cover and let rise again for another hour.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for approximately 30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. For frosting, beat softened butter and cream cheese; gradually add powdered sugar and spices until well blended before drizzling over cooled rolls.
