Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. softened butter
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 white onion, finely diced
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • pepper, to taste
  • 1 pack dinner rolls, 12 count (I use King's Hawaiian Savory Butter Rolls)
  • 16 slices American cheese (I use Boar's Head)
  • 3 Tbsp. butter, melted
  • pinch of salt and garlic powder
  • 2 tsp. white sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp. sweet pickle relish
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. distilled white vinegar
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Butter a baking sheet and set aside.
  3. In a sauté pan, heat olive oil and cook diced onions until soft. Add ground beef and cook until browned, then mix in garlic and seasonings.
  4. Slice dinner rolls in half and layer cheese, meat mixture, and top buns on the baking sheet.
  5. Brush tops with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds; bake for 12–15 minutes until cheese melts.
  6. Prepare the burger sauce by whisking together mayonnaise, ketchup, relish, sugar, vinegar, salt, and pepper.
