  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound chicken breast, diced
  • 2 cups cabbage, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • For the sauce: soy sauce
  • oyster sauce (optional)
  • sesame oil
  • black pepper
  • salt
  • crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • cornstarch mixed with water (optional)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the diced chicken in a mixture of soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper for 10–15 minutes.
  2. Prepare the sauce by whisking together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), black pepper, salt, crushed red pepper flakes (if desired), and cornstarch slurry.
  3. In a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat, melt butter and stir-fry the marinated chicken until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Remove the chicken and sauté onions and garlic in the same skillet until fragrant.
  5. Add cabbage, bell pepper, and carrot; stir-fry until tender yet crisp.
  6. Return chicken to the skillet and pour in the prepared sauce; cook until thickened slightly.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning before serving hot.
