  • 400 g flour
  • 1 egg
  • 40 g butter
  • 8 g salt
  • 50 g fine semolina
  • 25 g butter
  • 20 ml olive oil
  • 450 g steak
  • 5 g salt
  • 3 g cayenne powder
  • 3 g red bell pepper powder
  • 3 g onion powder
  • 2 g garlic powder
  • 1 g dried parsley
  • 80 g red onion, diced
  • 75 g red bell pepper, diced
  • as desired grated cheese (optional)
  • slices as desired cheddar (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine lukewarm milk, instant yeast, and honey; mix until combined.
  2. Add flour, beaten egg, butter, and salt; knead the dough for 10-12 minutes until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm spot for about one hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Divide the risen dough into 16 pieces; roll each into a ball and flatten slightly.
  5. Dust each flattened piece with semolina and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet; let rise again for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat a heavy skillet over medium heat; bake rolls until golden brown on both sides.
  7. For the filling, cook steak with spices in another skillet until done; add diced veggies and melt cheese.
  8. Fill each baked roll with the beef mixture before serving.
