Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 45 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup milk (optional, for creaminess)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Cook ground beef until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet; sauté until onions are soft, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. In the prepared baking dish, layer the cooked beef mixture evenly at the bottom. Add thinly sliced potatoes on top and season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar and Parmesan cheese over the potatoes. Pour beef broth around the edges of the casserole.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes; then remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly.
  7. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving hot.
